User Guide and FAQ

Find the essential controls, saving and backup instructions, AI features, and solutions to common issues. When you are done, return to the editor and continue your chart.

1. Basic controls

Add a person

Select “Add person” in the People panel. Select the new person to edit their name and color, or use the image control to upload a picture. On a phone, press and hold a person to open the editing menu.

Create a relationship

On a computer, select the first person, then hold Ctrl (or on a Mac) while selecting the second. On a phone, select a person and use “Add relationship” to choose the other person. Select an existing relationship to change its label, arrow, color, or line style.

Adjust the layout

Drag people to arrange them freely. Use “Auto arrange” in the toolbar when the chart gets crowded. Relationship labels can be dragged independently.

3. Start from a template

The welcome screen offers ready-made structures. You can freely add, remove, or edit people and relationships after applying one.

  • Drama — organize a protagonist, love interest, rival, and supporting cast
  • Family tree — map marriages, parents, children, and siblings
  • Team — clarify roles in a workplace or project
  • Romance — understand romantic links and love triangles

4. Saving and backups

Automatic saving

Your changes are saved automatically in this browser. Open the editor again on the same device and browser to continue. Your working chart is normally not uploaded to the Relationship Chart Maker server.

Download an image or file

Open “Save” in the editor to download your chart. The free plan includes watermarked PNG; Premium adds watermark-free PNG, PDF, SVG, and social-media sizes.

Important: Browser data can be removed or lost when you change devices. Download a backup file from the save-status screen for important charts.

5. AI features

AI character images (Premium)

Open a person's image menu and describe the character you want. Premium includes up to five character-image generations per day.

AI relationship chart generation

Use the AI chart page to turn a synopsis or setting notes into a first draft. Send the result to the editor to customize it.

6. Premium features

Premium is available as a monthly plan or a one-time purchase. See the pricing page for current prices and terms.

  • Charts with seven or more people
  • Watermark-free PNG, PDF, SVG, and social-media exports
  • Custom relationship and arrow colors, dashed and dotted lines
  • Premium themes
  • Up to five AI character images per day
  • Up to ten AI chart generations per day

Monthly subscribers can cancel, update payment details, and view receipts in billing management. One-time purchases do not renew automatically.

7. Frequently asked questions

Why is my image not downloading?

Check your browser's download and pop-up permissions and allow downloads from soukanzu.jp. If the issue continues, try Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or another supported browser.

Why did my chart disappear?

Chart data is stored in your browser and can be lost when site data is cleared or a private browsing session ends. If the save-status screen lists a backup, try “Restore from backup.” Download backup files regularly for important charts.

Why does an AI feature say that I reached the limit?

AI features have daily usage limits. The limits reset at midnight Japan time. If your Premium status has not refreshed, reload the editor.

Why are Premium features still locked after payment?

Return to the editor after checkout and reload the page. If Premium remains locked, use the contact form and include the email address used at checkout.

Why is touch input difficult on my phone?

Use a short tap to select a person and drag while keeping your finger down to move them. Pressing and holding opens the person editing menu.

How can I make a large chart easier to read?

Try “Auto arrange.” For very large casts, create separate charts for primary and supporting characters instead of fitting everyone into one chart.
