Love Triangle Chart Maker
Who likes whom, at a glance
Love triangles are hard to explain in words and easy to read in a chart. This love triangle chart maker starts you with a romance template: a couple, a one-sided crush, and an ex, already connected with arrows. Rename the characters, flip the arrows, and export a PNG that settles every "wait, who likes who?" in one image.

Arrows do the explaining
The whole trick of a love triangle chart is direction. A single arrow means the feeling only goes one way: Rowan likes Alex, but Alex doesn't know. Arrows in both directions mean it's mutual. A plain label without much emphasis, like exes or childhood friends, marks history rather than current feelings.
The template shows all three at once. Alex and Jamie are dating, Rowan has a one-sided crush on Alex, and Sky is Jamie's ex. That is already a love triangle and a half, and every name, label, and arrow can be changed.
Common love triangle shapes
Most romance tangles are one of these patterns. Pick the one closest to your story and adjust from there.
Two people, one heart
A and C both point arrows at B. B points at only one of them, or at neither yet. The classic triangle.
The unrequited chain
A likes B, B likes C, C likes A. Three single arrows in a loop, and nobody is happy.
The ex comes back
A couple with a two-way line, plus an ex connected by a history label and a new one-way arrow.
Best friend's crush
Two friends linked by a friendship line, with one of them hiding an arrow toward the other's partner.
The love square
Four people, two couples, and the arrows that cross between them. Group each couple with its own color.
Rivals in love
Two characters linked by a rivalry line who both point arrows at the same person.
Make your love triangle chart in 4 steps
Rename the four placeholders
Replace Alex, Jamie, Rowan, and Sky with your characters. Delete anyone you don't need, or add more from the people panel.
Set each arrow's direction
Select a line to change its label and arrowheads. One-way for crushes and secret feelings, two-way for couples.
Keep labels short
"Dating," "crush," "exes," "rivals," "engaged." Two words or fewer keeps the chart readable when it's posted small.
Export and post
Save as PNG and share it on X, Tumblr, or Discord, or keep it as a plotting note for your next chapter.
Love triangle chart or ship chart?
A love triangle chart zooms in on one knot of feelings, usually three to five people. If you want every pairing in a whole fandom on one page, canon and fanon alike, use the ship chart maker instead. For your own original characters' full cast, including friends and enemies, the OC relationship chart template is a better start, and the general relationship chart maker covers everything else.
Have a plot summary already? Paste it into the AI Relationship Chart Generator and it pulls out the names and relationships for you, with names spelled correctly instead of garbled the way AI-generated images often draw text.
FAQ
Is the love triangle chart maker free?
Yes. The romance template opens in the free editor with no sign-up, and you can export the finished chart as a PNG at no cost.
How do I show that a crush is one-sided?
Draw the line as a single arrow pointing from the person who has the feelings to the person they like. A mutual relationship gets arrows in both directions or a plain two-way line.
Can I make a love square or a bigger romance web?
Yes. Add as many characters as you need from the people panel. The free plan covers smaller casts; Premium is for charts with seven or more people.
Is my chart private?
Yes. The chart is saved in your own browser, so nothing is published unless you export an image or share a link yourself.
Untangle the triangle
Free, no sign-up, ready in your browser. The couple, the crush, and the ex are already on the canvas.
